New Entrants are encouraged to visit the school before enrolment to ensure a smooth transition to school. Whenever possible, advance notification is given to class teachers of new enrolments to their class.

Enrolling your child at Tahatai involves the following steps:

  1. Complete online enrolment form: Enrolment Form

  1. Upload the following on the online enrolment form or provide the school office with a copy of your child’s:

  • Birth certificate or passport and visa

  • Immunisation record from your family doctor or your Well Child Tamariki Health Book.  This is not compulsory to attend.

  • If relevant, latest school report.

  • A completed Statutory Declaration Form.  These will need to be sighted and signed by a Justice of the Peace, Solicitor or another person authorised to take a statutory declaration.


Proof of in zone residence includes:

  • A Sale/Purchase Agreement for the home you are residing in (if you have recently moved)

  • A Tenancy Agreement if you are renting.  Please note that it must be a legal Tenancy Agreement, not a written agreement between family members or friends

  • A utility bill for the property with parents/caregivers names listed, e.g. rates or water account. 

For students not born in New Zealand but hold a residence/working visa, we require a copy of the relevant visa from the child’s passport.

Uniform

At Tahatai Coast School, we have a compulsory school uniform, worn by all tamariki.  All Tahatai uniform items can be purchased from the school office.  Office hours are Monday to Friday during school terms (8:10am-3:00pm).

We take great pride in being part of Tahatai Coast School, and our uniform helps to create and support our identity. 

In Terms 2 and 3, children may wear navy tracksuit pants to school.  These are not sold in the school office but can be purchased locally at Kmart or The Warehouse.

Health and Safety Information

  • We follow a sun safe policy, and tamariki will be required to wear a school hat outside in Term 1 and Term 4. No non-school uniform hats please! 
  • No jewellery please - except for small stud earrings and taonga (jewellery of significance to the wearer).
  • Smart Watches / phones must be safely stored with your child's kaiako/teacher during the school day.
  • Children must wear closed shoes and wear a helmet to ride skateboards, scooters and bikes during school time.  
  • All school uniform items, including hats, can be purchased from the school office.  Office hours are Monday to Friday (8:10am-3:00pm).
